Peoria, IL – Starting Nov. 4, American Airlines will offer two daily nonstop flights to Charlotte, N.C. from Peoria, opening up the East Coast to travelers as well as access to hundreds of domestic and international destinations.
Charlotte-Douglas International Airport (CLT) is a fast-growing hub with more than 700 daily flights, including daily connections to key cities such as Washington, D.C., New York City, Boston and Baltimore.
Further, Charlotte is the largest city in the Carolinas, the nation’s second largest banking center behind New York City and was recently named the fastest-growing top tech talent market in the U.S.
“We are thrilled that Central Illinois will soon have nonstop access to a city that brings such connectivity to the East Coast and abroad,” said Gene Olson, Director of Airports for the Gen. Wayne A. Downing Peoria International Airport.
“And since Charlotte’s economy is largely based on the financial industries, including international banking, we believe our passengers will enjoy the variety of international destinations from Charlotte-Douglas International Airport.”
The Charlotte flights, which will be operated by PSA Airlines on 50-seat CRJ-200 regional jets, will be available for purchase starting Monday. American Airlines also operates nonstop flights to Chicago O’Hare Airport (ORD) and Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) from Peoria International Airport.

The General Wayne A. Downing Peoria International Airport currently provides service to 10 destinations on four airlines: Allegiant to Orlando/Sanford, Las Vegas, Tampa/St. Pete, Phoenix/Mesa and Ft. Myers/Punta Gorda; American to Chicago and Dallas/Ft. Worth; Delta to Atlanta, Detroit and Minneapolis; and United to Chicago. Air freight service is provided by UPS serving Central Illinois with daily flights to major freight hubs. General Aviation is served by Byerly Aviation at PIA and by the Metropolitan Airport Authority of Peoria at Mount Hawley Airport.
