Greater Peoria Works To Become Regional Brand For Students

GREATER PEORIA WORKS TO BECOME REGIONAL BRAND FOR STUDENTS

Last year CEO Council launched a new program called Greater Peoria Works. The goal of the program is to encourage and assist local employers with creating work experience opportunities for youth ages 14-25. From full-time and seasonal employment to company tours and workshops, the website connects business and youth aiming to provide skills and opportunities in attempts to help bridge the skills gap and provide employers with a highly motivated, talented workforce.

With the success of the program, CEO Council looks to the Greater Peoria Economic Development Council (GPEDC) to further manage the program. Greater Peoria Works will become the regional branding for Career Cruising ‘Inspire’. ‘Inspire’ is currently the software platform that allows Greater Peoria’s youth to explore careers, local companies and internship opportunities. As part of the Greater Peoria Pathways initiative, we are collectively empowering regional communities to build, robust and sustainable career pathways for youth. Currently Career Cruising is the preferred exploration tool implemented in 30 districts across five counties in our region. With counselors and students already familiar with using the Career Cruising platform, we are excited to expand Greater Peoria Works to provide strong branding to the work of the GPEDC. Through connecting to Career Cruising, Greater Peoria Works now has access to more robust outcome tracking and guided course suggestions, helping students develop their own career paths.

Youth 18 and older are encouraged to visit LiveGP.org where over 3,000 opportunities are populated through Indeed.

Over the next few weeks, employers currently registered on the Greater Peoria Works website will be transferred over to the new platform.

If your company would like to be a part of the Greater Peoria Works program – offering internships, job shadows and more to local students – please contact Brent Baker at bbaker@greaterpeoriaedc.org or visit www.GPpathways.org/employers for more information.
